Project Consultant / Sales

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Manage new opportunities from the first point of contact, through design consultation, budget discussions, proposal development and presentation.
  • Present OakWood’s capabilities, approach, and unique processes to engage and qualify potential clients and get them excited about what the OakWood Team can do for their project.
  • Work with OakWood’s processes, scope and budget templates and proprietary customer relationship management software.
  • Close deals to achieve monthly and annual quotas/targets.
  • Lead your signed clients through the design process, working with the experienced OakWood Team to prepare final concept designs, construction drawings and complete material selections based on the approved budget.
  • Own the ongoing relationship with your clients for future projects and ensure an exceptional customer experience from start to finish.

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum of 5 years in a design or architectural technician, renovation or design consulting or renovation sales role
  • Knowledge of residential or commercial renovation and construction practices and products is preferred
  • Familiarity with local building codes and new building technologies and their implications for design is considered an asset
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite and Design Software is an asset
  • Diploma or Degree in Design, Architecture or Building Technology is an asset

Kitchen Consultant / Sales

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Meet with clients to determine kitchen design requirements, present kitchen design concepts, and finalize contracts
  • Use design software to develop creative and functional design plans and layouts, elevations and detailed drawings that respect your Clients’ budget and schedule and are up to building code standards
  • Read and interpret blueprint, schematics, and technical drawings etc.
  • Advise and assist with selection of colours, finishes and materials such as cabinets, tiles, counters, fixtures, lighting, flooring, and other items
  • Effectively multi-task, following the OakWood sales and design process, and managing your time to work within the client’s budget and allocated design time
  • Liaise with other OakWood departments and team members to ensure quality and continuity at all stages of the project
  • Maintain relationships with clients to ensure an outstanding customer experience that is second to none

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum of 5 years in a design role
  • Kitchen design experience
  • Familiarity with local building codes and their implications for design
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to get your great ideas across quickly and clearly
  • Proficiency with 2020 Design Software, Revit and the Microsoft suite

What You’ll Be Doing

Architectural Technologist

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Measuring and completing as-build drawings
  • Complete the building permit drawings as per OBC while verifying all structural details
  • Effectively multi-task, following the OakWood process, and managing your time
  • Liaise with other OakWood departments and team members to ensure quality and continuity at all stages of the project
  • Liaise with the City of Ottawa and Engineers to obtain Minor Variances and permits

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in residential design
  • You have a thorough understanding of construction specifications within the industry
  • Working knowledge of the local building codes and wood frame construction

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Source, evaluate and recommend potential Trade Partners & Suppliers based on price, quality, logistics efficiency, and future potential
  • Build new, and manage existing Trade Partner & Supplier relationships, ensuring contracts are negotiated and updated as required
  • Provide up to date costing, both incoming and replacement for preparation of price lists, quotations, and contracts
  • Collaborate to identify innovative approaches to improve product & service quality and increase purchasing efficiency
  • Review proposals and change orders to ensure that they are accurate and provide enough description

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Understanding the project budget and monitoring and adhering to it
  • Confirm that all elements of the project are set and ready for Production
  • Create RFPs & PO’s for scope of work and discuss with trades partners and suppliers
  • Create a schedule based on contract scope of work and ensure proper resources are allocated to complete the project timeline

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Project planning and jobsite oversight, including timely identification of problems and proposal of creative solutions for handyman projects and warranty claims
  • Overview of jobsite safety practices and quality control
  • Complete some of the work as required such as tile, drywall and trim repairs and troubleshoot warranty claims to find the source of the issue
  • Maintain the 24 hour warranty phone
