Habitat for Humanity

Reusable materials from your renovation will help families in need

Habitat for Humanity

When you choose OakWood as your renovator of choice, you can also feel good know
ing that where possible, reusable materials that are removed as part of a take-down process for your renovation will be donated to the Habitat for Humanity.
That means your renovation could help give a needy family the hand-up they need to build a better life.

Proud to be a Habitat for Humanity Partner

The Habitat for Humanity is a national non-profit organization dedicated to providing low-income families with safe, decent, affordable housing. Since 2012 OakWood has been helping Habitat on several levels:

  • Providing project management services for repairs on homes for disadvantaged families
  • Donating usable materials to the Habitat’s ReStore, which provides fantastic deals on a broad range of renovation supplies at deeply discounted rates
  • Supporting Habitat’s ReNew It Program, a repair and renovation program that addresses health and safety deficiency issues for low-income homeowners

In July 2013, and working alongside other Habitat partners BOMA Ottawa and the RBC Foundation, OakWood helped Habitat volunteers construct a 14’ x 22’ deck for Abbeyfield House, a non-profit housing option for seniors.

However, many families need minor renovations to make their home safe and accessible. Others need more substantial interior or exterior repairs. This is where OakWood and your renovation can help.

Your renovation could make an even bigger difference

Every effort is made to recycle and reuse as much as possible from any renovation to support families in need – while always minimizing what goes to the landfill.

Essentially anything that can be re-used from your renovation will be donated. This could include old but perfectly usable cabinetry, tiles, countertops, sinks, toilets, and other re-usable products. All will be donated to the Habitat as part of our partnership and a goodwill program.
